A lot with two houses was more than I expected when I bought on Isla Mujeres, Mexico, near Cancun. But the unexepcted has turned into a blessing with my ability to convert the back house into a guest house and to share my knowledge of neighborhood life, something few tourists ever see.
It is the perfect environmet to nurture the creative soul - the sights, sounds and rhythms of the neighborhood are condusive to writing, photography and water colors. There is a laptop for use in one apartment and an internet hook up in the other.
Some, however, volunteer at La Gloria English School, which is within walking distance.
And because Isla is so small, you still have easy access to the beaches and clubs on the North coast, and the Caribbean shore for shell hunting, and you are withing walking distance of Playa Lancheros, Zama Beach Club and Garrafon Reef Park, or because of zones, 22 pesos by cab to each.
